Your Gift Makes a Difference

Since 1971, people throughout the community have found many different ways to support Sunshine House. Our wishlist consists of items that we are in need of to continue our mission, and provide much needed programs and services for individuals with special needs and disabilities in Door County." 1. Sponsor Sunny’s Snack Shop Room

Sunny's Snack Shop started as an idea in a Biz 101 class that was held at Sunshine House. This idea became a reality due to the hard work and determination of those clients in the class. Today we operate Monday - Friday at specific times. They offer hotdogs, soda, chips, candy, veggies, fruit and more. This has been a great opportunity for job training and job skills in the service industry for our clients and can assist with them establishing employment in the community. Please consider becoming a sponsor of the snack shop and allowing the clients to take it to the next level.

  2. Repair our Mailing Department address printer

One of the ways that Sunshine House provides job opportunities for our clients is through our mailing and printing department. THAT'S RIGHT! We have a full service mailing and printing department. Here clients assist in folding, inserting, labeling and mailing materials for local businesses or personal mailings. As with computers, equipment breaks down and becomes outdated. Our address labeler is in need of repair and has forced us to print on labels and apply to the mailings. This takes more time and causes an issue for some that do not have the dexterity in their hands and arms. Please consider assisting Sunshine House with having our address labeler repaired and put back in service.

  3. Forklift for Production Floor

One of the biggest programs we offer at Sunshine House is our supported employment program. With partnerships throughout the industrial park with companies such as Hatco, Pro Products, Midwest Wire and more, we provide employment opportunities for our clients. This work is the same work being done at the plants, with the same quality control. Our clients work daily to meet their assigned goals as well as their own goals. Since we are moving large pallets of parts around, it is handy to have a working forklift to assist in the loading and unloading of parts throughout the day. Please consider helping Sunshine House create job opportunities and continue to grow our partnerships with local businesses.

  4. Vehicle for Job Coaching

One of the best days at Sunshine House involves the news that one of our clients has secured employment in the community. This is the reward for hard work and dedication to becoming a better self and nurturing the human spirit for those seeking their personal goals. In our Supported Employment program, we provide job coaching for those individuals who see their goals being reached. A job coach works along side of the client to ensure they are comfortable, confident and meeting the expectations of the job. This continues until the client and employer feel they are ready to work on their own. In order to get the job coach and the client to their jobs, we need transportation that is affordable to maintain and fuel. Please consider the donation of a small car that is safe and in working order, or assist us in the purchase of a vehicle to continue to help see that goals are being achieved for our clients.
